The fifth edition of designSUPERMARKET, a contemporary market which opens the doors of Czech fashion and design to those living in and around Prague, will be held at Archa from Wednesday, December 7 until Sunday, December 11.
With 1,600 square meters of buying and shopping space and more than 70 designers, in the fields of graphics, accessories, fashion, jewelry, porcelain and glass, you are sure to find a gift for yourself or something for those on your Christmas list, who undoubtedly will want to keep what you buy them and not regift
DJs will keep you shopping by spinning uptempo tracks and, should you want to relax, there’s a café on the premises.
Also new this year, there will be a smaller market known as “Market Liba”, which allows smaller-scale designers who fit the overall vibe and look of designSUPERMARKET but who do not have their own stand-alone area to exhibit.
Some of my favorites from Designblok and Designblok Dreft Fashion Week will also make their presence known.
Designblok winners Zdeněk Vacek and Daniel Pošta will present their jewelry collaboration Virus — a collection that pushes the boundaries of “fashionable” jewelry and blurs the line between science and art!
From Designblok Dreft Fashion Week, Zuzana Kubíčková’s Dressing and Hana Zárubová’s Airforce, both of whom I featured in my review of that event, will also be on show at designSUPERMARKET, giving everyone the chance to wear a high-end line of “prêt-à-porter”.
Other noteworthy participants: Zuzana Veselá, who will debut her Amissa collection; Project Belka (a Trudi for Dolls/Leandrea collaboration); Michaela Gorcová; Martin Zampach, a true artisan in the dying industry of Czech glassmaking; Maestrokatastrof; and Ether — just to name a few.
Once you’ve finished your shopping, drinking and, more likely than not, dancing at Archa, head over to NoD for an after-party every night this week from 10pm.
(A cloakroom and pram-holding service is available free of charge.)
