H&M take note: This is how designer collaborations should be done
Designer collaborations. An overused word these days to describe something of terrible quality, sold at an unreasonably high price. In the Czech Republic we have become all too familiar with the $100-$500 price tag of such collaborations- does any one remember MMM, Anna dello Russo, Versace? All three of these collections got loads of press, but come a few weeks after the initial buzz wore off, there were still pieces floating around the store with a 50% off price tag hanging from each item.
Now let’s jump across the pond to the United States where the idea of designer collaborations are well known. Everyone’s favorite Target has been doing collaborations (since 1994 to be exact) before collaborations were even cool. They have built meaningful relationshipswith the likes of Liberty of London (for which I am a proud owner of both a bag and tunic), McQ Alexander McQueen, Anna Sui, Jean Paul Gaultier, and other heavy hitters of the Parisian and London runways.
Unfortunately, the only way that Target will ship abroad is through the Armed Forces Services. So, should you not be lucky enough to have a good friend living in the US or know an American who will gladly give up their address and postal code for you, there is always ebay.
