Oversize coats or mid-drift tops, the young Czech designers who debuted collections for the Elle Talent Card decided to play with these two themes and sometimes both at the same time. Most of these young talents come from VSUP and are under the helm of the ‘Czech Queen of Fashion’– Libena Rochova– which one can immediately notice from the silhouettes.
Karolína Juříková , using elements of plaids, chiffon silks, over-sized jackets, transparent shirts and trousers, used bold patterns and textures to create her spring/summer 2013 look. Ms. Juříková’s use of materials created a fun show with very wearable pieces that seemed light years ahead of some of the more established designers. She will certainly be one to watch in the coming years.
Monika Krobová introduced both her winter semester work (which was shown at Designblok Premier Fashion Week during the fall), as well as a new spring collection. Attempting to capture the over-sized outerwear theme running throughout the fall and some of the spring shows, Monika used drop-waist jackets and coats tied at the hip. A boxier shape followed into spring with the likes of Eliska Kuchtova’s– recent nominee for Discovery of the Year at Czech Grand Design- designing strappy leather and rope sandals as the perfect shoe for spring.
Tereza Ujevičová– if you were ever wondering what you would wear to an “End of the World Party” to still look fashionable and totally cool, this would be the girl you would ultimately track down first. Ripped jeans, dresses, and trousers created an, I don’t give a shit about anything, look that under most circumstances would look insouciance, but under Ujevičová looked completely bad ass.
