Helping put Hungarian designers on the map, PR agency and TONI&GUY produce seasonal fashion show for international buyers and press
Budapest. It’s a city known for its life-giving spas, its chain bridge, the Austrian-Hungarian empire, and ruin bars, but on April 13 TONI&GUY Fashion Week Budapest will usher in their one-day fashion week event placing Budapest on the fashion map. Located at the fashionable Palazzo Dorottya, Hungarian heavy weights like Nanushka, USE unused, Je Suis Belle, Anh Tuan, and ANDA will debut their autumn/winter 2013 collections.
“At present, positive changes have taken place in the fashion life of Hungary, which we think can pin our country onto the fashion world map,” explains Vica Hajnal, a spokesperson for the BigBag PR agency helping to organize the fashion week. “Youngsters [are discovering] the beauty of Hungarian designer-pieces and more investors and sponsors consider investing into a talented designer’s brand,” explains Hajnal
Until the first TONI&GUY fashion week last autumn, the only way for designers- whether established or not- to make it was to try their luck abroad. BigBag PR is helping designers lacking the financial backing to go abroad by bringing international press, buyers, and the general public to them on a larger, more internationally recognized platform. “[Our] long-term goal of the event is to strengthen the position of Hungarian designers on the local and also the international market and to revive the Hungarian fashion and textile industry,” says Hajal.
The plan on reviving this struggling market is to offer a fashion week twice a year (a/w and s/s) in accordance with international buying and fashion show schedules. Eventually, they hope to grow this platform to offer not only Hungarian designers, but also other Eastern European designers, the opportunity to have their creative talents realized on a more international scale.
